These rules establish the standards for roleplay, character conduct, combat, economy, and player interactions within Paragon RP.
All players are expected to familiarize themselves with these regulations and uphold the principles of fair, immersive, and respectful roleplay.
1. ROLEPLAY & CHARACTER RULES
1.1 Stay In Character
- Remain in character (IC) while participating in Paragon's world.
- Keep out-of-character (OOC) conversations in designated OOC channels.
- OOC information must never influence IC decisions or events.
- OOC conversations should only happen if in private buildings (not keeps). Should not be made a habit.
- Don't break character to a staff member unless in a staff situation. (we want to roleplay too)
1.2 Lore Accuracy
- Characters, names, appearances, backstories, abilities, and beliefs must fit established Elder Scrolls lore.
- Overpowered, flawless, immortal, divine proxy, or otherwise unrealistic characters are prohibited.
- Characters must have believable flaws, limitations, and vulnerabilities.
- Do not use the exact first and last name of an established Skyrim NPC. This includes naming yourself as an Aedra, Daedra, etc.
1.3 Fear RP
- Characters must realistically fear death, severe injury, and permanent consequences.
- If confronted with a weapon, overwhelming numbers (3+), or another credible threat, you must respond appropriately rather than treating your character as invincible.
- Mortals must appropriately react to Werewolves, Vampires, and Daedric threats with fear, panic, flight, or revulsion when appropriate.
1.4 Character Age
- Roleplaying as an underage child is prohibited. Characters must be 18 years or older. While you can RP as someone's relative, you cannot be underage.
2. META-GAMING & POWER-GAMING
2.1 Meta-Gaming
- Your character may only know information they personally witnessed, heard, or learned through RP.
- Information from Discord, private messages, streams, OOC conversations, or other players cannot be used for IC advantage.
- Knowledge from previous characters cannot be transferred to a new character.
- Discord correspondence is permitted when the characters are physically together, or through an IC note/message that can reasonably be discovered.
2.2 Power-Gaming
- Do not force actions, injuries, deaths, or outcomes onto another player without giving them a reasonable opportunity to react or resist.
- Coordinate large-scale plots intended to significantly alter the server with staff and affected parties.
- Organized factions or groups designed to intentionally destabilize the server's mechanical or narrative environment are prohibited.
- Do not transfer gold, items, or property between your own characters, directly or through another player.
- If a character is permanently killed, they permanently lose their belongings unless they wrote a will before death.
2.3 Combat Logging
Logging out, disconnecting, or closing the game to escape combat, capture, or an active RP situation is considered Fail RP and is subject to immediate administrative action.
3. Combat, RDM & Character Death
3.1 RDM / Unjustified Combat
- Attacking, ambushing, robbing, or killing another player requires a legitimate IC interaction/motive.
- Combat must have clear initiation when circumstances allow.
- Random killing or attacking without established conflict, an immediate roleplay threat, or proper escalation is prohibited.
3.2 Permanent Kill (PK)
- A character death during a mutually agreed-upon death scenario, such as a duel to the death or planned high-risk storyline, is permanent. Except when it comes to executions or assasination via dark brotherhood (if approved via ticket).
- Outside designated high-risk PvP areas or agreed-upon conflict arcs, a PK requires the receiving player's consent.
- If consent is not given, the defeat must instead be roleplayed as a serious, lasting injury.
3.3 Non-Permanent Defeat
- If defeated without a PK, your character must forget the specific events immediately surrounding their defeat.
- You may not return to the same engagement for 30 minutes.
- Returning to the scene during this period is considered Fail RP.
4. PK DESIGNATED ZONES
4.1 Faction & Criminal Hubs
If you attack or trespass in the following locations, your character will suffer a permanent death (PK) if killed by the resident faction: (NOT KOS)
- Castle Volkihar
- Fort Dawnguard
- Thalmor Embassy
- Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary
- Thieves Guild Property
- Imperial Forts
4.2 Jarl Keeps
If you attack within any Jarl Keep, any death resulting from the assault will be considered a permanent character death (PK).
4.3 Supernatural
- If you actively hunt Vampires, Werewolves, or Daedra, any death suffered in combat while pursuing them will be considered a permanent character death (PK).
- Any death suffered on either side of combat will result in PK if mutual combat.
5. CAPTURE, ROBBERY & THEFT
5.1 Captivity
Captivity must have a legitimate roleplay purpose.
Examples include:
- Rescue missions
- Ransom
- Political extortion
- Legal proceedings
Players may not be held indefinitely simply to prevent them from playing.
Server Rule: Guards must release a prisoner if they have not charged the individual with a crime within one hour of arrest. Unless agreed upon by both parties. Once charged can be held up to 24 hours for trial/sentencing. (This applies to all captivity outside the guard as well)
5.2 Robbery
- A robbery may involve taking a maximum of two items from a victim.
- Only 10% of the victim's gold may be taken as one item.
- A victim's inventory may be inspected, but the two-item limit still applies.
- Soulbound or otherwise unreasonable or unfeasible items cannot be taken.
5.3 Looting
Following an authorized and properly initiated PvP encounter, players may loot a maximum of two items from the defeated player.
6. PROPERTY & RESIDENCY
- Breaking into a player-owned home, fortress, or campsite is an IC crime.
- Such an intrusion may reasonably lead to physical escalation or combat.
- Each player may have a maximum of one residence.
- Imperial officials are permitted a private residence because their government buildings are militarized zones.
- Faction leaders/Higher ups may not own personal property outside the faction/guild base.
- Business owners may not own additional property outside of their business.
7. ECONOMY & CRAFTING
- Do not intentionally camp resources.
- Manipulating merchants or resources to establish a complete monopoly is prohibited.
- The economy must remain reasonably accessible to players and crafters of all levels. (economy is subject to fluctuation)
8. COMMUNICATION & RAVENS
Server-wide IC messages and raven communications are restricted to preserve realistic communication.
- Use Couriers or notice boards.
9. OOC CONDUCT
- Do not troll, harass, intentionally disrupt RP, or repeatedly break character in public areas.
- Do not bring OOC disputes into global chat or public Discord channels.
- Staff are responsible for handling player disputes and rule enforcement.
- Continued OOC misconduct may result in escalating punishments, including permanent bans.
10. ERP / SEXUAL CONTENT
ERP is restricted.
- Restricted to private areas with the consent of all involved parties Individuals walking in on the scene must be informed of what's happening so they can disengage
- Explicit sexual content in public will result in an immediate ban.
11. IN-CHARACTER RACISM & SLURS
Paragon permits only racial prejudice that is native to and consistent with established Elder Scrolls lore.
11.1 Permitted Lore-Based Prejudice
- Characters may express prejudice, discrimination, distrust, insults, or hostility toward another race when appropriate and lore-accurate.
- Lore-accurate racial tensions may be used to create meaningful, immersive roleplay.
11.2 Prohibited Conduct
- Real-world racism, racial slurs, hate speech, and derogatory terminology are strictly prohibited.
- Hybrid slurs are prohibited. Players may not combine real-world slurs or derogatory terms with Elder Scrolls races, cultures, or terminology to create supposedly lore-friendly insults.
- Players may not disguise real-world racism or hate speech as Elder Scrolls roleplay.
- Lore-based prejudice must remain IC and must never become OOC harassment, bullying, or discrimination against another player.
- Staff may intervene if lore is used as an excuse to target, harass, or demean another player OOC.
- If the player whose character is being targeted expresses OOC discomfort, the interaction must cease.
In short: Elder Scrolls racial prejudice is permitted. Real-world racism and hybrid slurs are not
The character may hate the race. The player may not hate the person.
12. ALT ACCOUNTS & BAN EVASION
- Using an alternate account to bypass a punishment or ban is strictly prohibited.
- Ban evasion results in an immediate permanent ban.
13. REPORTING & STAFF INTERVENTION

- Report rule violations, exploits, or disruptive behavior through the Staff ticket system.
- Provide screenshots, video recordings, or other available evidence whenever possible.
14.2 No Public Drama

- Players are expected to follow staff instructions during an active investigation or intervention.
15. RECORDING & STREAMING

- Stream sniping is strictly prohibited.
- Players may not use a creator's recording or stream to obtain information their character would not reasonably possess.
- Do not harass content creators for their roleplay or characters.
- Intentionally identifying a player's location through streamed content or OOC information for IC advantage is considered meta-gaming and is prohibited.
16. CORRUPTION & MORALLY QUESTIONABLE RP
16.1 Permitted Corruption
Characters may participate in corruption when:
- It fits their established personality, position, motivations, and history.
- The behavior is believable within the Elder Scrolls setting.
- It creates meaningful RP rather than simply providing mechanical advantages.
- The character accepts the possibility of discovery and IC consequences.
- The corruption does not exist solely to bypass server rules or mechanics.
Examples include:
- A guard accepting a bribe.
- A government official favoring a particular merchant.
- A noble abusing political influence.
- A military officer accepting payment or favors.
- A business owner participating in illicit trade.
- A criminal organization bribing an official.
- Political figures secretly working with questionable factions.
16.2 Corruption Is Not Rule Immunity
- Being corrupt does not give a character permission to ignore server rules.
- Staff may intervene if corruption is used to grief, powergame, metagame, destroy another player's RP, or circumvent mechanics.
- Corruption must remain an IC storyline, not an excuse for OOC favoritism.
- Players involved in corruption must accept reasonable IC consequences if their actions are discovered.
Corruption is permitted when it creates RP. It is prohibited when it exists solely to exploit the server or another player.
17. GENERAL ENFORCEMENT & ADMINISTRATION
17.1 Staff Discretion
Staff may intervene in situations not explicitly covered by the rules when necessary to preserve fair, immersive, and enjoyable roleplay.
17.2 Rule Loopholes
Intentionally circumventing, exploiting, or technically bypassing a server rule is considered a rule violation.
Players are expected to follow the spirit and intent of the rules, not simply their literal wording.
17.3 RP Boundaries
Players are encouraged to contact staff if an RP situation becomes genuinely uncomfortable or crosses a reasonable personal boundary.
Staff may intervene when necessary.
17.4 Rule Updates
Paragon rules may be updated, amended, or clarified as the server develops.
Players are responsible for staying informed of the current rules.
17.5 Staff & RP
Staff members participating in roleplay are subject to the same server rules as other players.
Staff intervention and administrative decisions should remain separate from a staff member's personal character whenever reasonably possible.
17.6 Good-Faith RP
When a situation is unclear, players are expected to act in good faith and prioritize fair, immersive roleplay over exploiting technicalities or loopholes.
FINAL STATEMENT
Staff decisions are intended to protect the integrity of Paragon and its roleplay environment.
All players are expected to uphold these standards, respect fellow community members, and contribute to an immersive and enjoyable roleplay experience.
